Monica & Montu : Next Day Edit

What can we say about Monica and Montu? Aside from being warm, genuine, and so easy to work with, this is a couple that defines the meaning of “true love”.

The chemistry these two have with each other is infectious. It’s impossible not to feel happy when you’re around them.

For us, shooting Monica and Montu was a slice of cake because they pretty much did anything we asked them to for our shot!

Their sincerity translated brilliantly onto the camera, and they gave such good face we couldn’t take a bad shot of them even if we tried.

For this Next Day edit, we really wanted to capture the quiet moments while getting ready, the celebration of the two families meeting, and the solemnity and beauty of their Sikh ceremony that took place at the Gursikh Sabha Gurdwara in Scarborough.

We also wove in gorgeous stills from Monty and Sangeeta at Kumari Photography to create a lasting piece that left nary a dry eye in the house…

The Miller Lash House, that is, where the reception took place.

The Bridal Party: A “Trash The Dress” 8mm film

In contrast to our glossy and polished HDSLR work, this piece was shot entirely in 8mm Kodak film.

Shot mainly for the pleasure of it, we wanted this film to be artistically appealing as well as being heartfelt and sincere with a splash of fun!

With a full reel and a nostalgic eye, we called up a few friends who were game for anything. We came up with a concept and short storyline: A bride trashes her dress with her bridesmaids.

We also thought the film could serve as an idea point for brides out there who want to do something unique!

For us, shooting and creating one of a kind wedding films is so dear to our hearts, and we always want the bride and groom to feel that the sky’s the limit when it comes to what we can achieve together.

Since we’re always living in the realm of bringing life to film and film to life, it’s almost impossible for us not to have a great time working together!

We hope you enjoy this fun little film, and perhaps it will give you some exciting new ideas for your own wedding.

Chad & Meera : Same Day Edit

One a sunny day this summer, Chad & Meera got married at the beautiful Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto.

With only a few hours between the ceremony and reception, the folks from Kumari Photography (Monty & Sangeeta) and us, broke record times for a same day edit: 3 hours. By show time, almost to the second, our DVD burn was completed!

All the rush was very worth while. I could see the reaction in everyone’s faces, seeing Chad and Meera’s ceremony and intimate moments as they got ready that morning.

A beautiful couple, a beautiful place and a beautiful wedding.

Jackson & Linda: Wedding Highlights Reel

Jackson & Linda were definitely a great couple to shoot.

Their fun, loving approach allowed us to play with props and concepts that brought an awesome childlike quality to the shots.

Clear skies, puffy clouds and warm air made it a perfect day to work with such an enthusiastic wedding party, along side Kumari Photography.

We did this shoot before the actual wedding ceremony and we could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air as we captured them all having a great time.

Intercutting 8mm film and HDSLR video created a beautiful and timeless look, which was also incredibly fun to edit!

Seema & Amit: Engagement Video

Seema and Amit commissioned this engagement video to be produced in the peak of Toronto’s autumn season in 2009.

The fall colours and flawless weather on the day of the shoot, contributed to the perfectly warm overall tone of the footage.

Tech Specs:

Unlike its more Professional counterpart (Canon 5D Mark II), the Nikon D90′s motion flicker makes handheld shots a bit challenging. However, DSLR Cinema with the D90 is definitely a proper option for scenes designed as locked off shots or gyro-stabilized handheld shots.

This engagement video was shot mostly handheld, on a Nikon D90 with an f1.4 Nikkor lens at 720p. Edited and colour corrected in Final Cut Pro.
